The long awaited studio album, Taking Flight, Produced by Hogan at Foxtail Sound in Dixon, CA, with celebrated traditional Celtic music heavyweights: Richard Mandel, Christa Burch, Rebecca Richman, Maureen Brennan, and Marla Fibish debuts in Northern California, only once. These rare live performances of selections from Amelia’s new studio album, features the album’s celebrated acoustic musicians for the project in one show.
Amelia Hogan is an impeccably authentic singer of Celtic music and in the Irish music tradition of Sean-Nós, or ‘old style’ as well as accompanied and has toured internationally to global acclaim. An award-winning traditional singer, multimedia artist and lover of storytelling through son, Amelia sings with a timeless quality that comes through in honeyed tones on Irish, Scottish, British, and American vocals. With a passion for bringing the listener inside the song’s narrative, with depth, and timeless subtlety she’s toured both the US and abroad.
Richard Mandel– bouzouki, fingerstyle and rhythm guitar, an essential Celtic instrumentalist for some of the most celebrated projects, sessions, and groups of the West Coast and key member of the Jammy Dodgers and Three Mile Stone with Master Irish Mandolinist, Marla Fibish.
Marla Fibish, and warm alto singer of Noctambule, is a San Francisco native, a dynamic performer and a sought after teacher, and one of the prominent voices of the mandolin in Irish music. She brings a deep and distinctive sensibility to the tradition on one of its lesser-heard instruments.
Maureen Brennan of Wake the Dead, Men of Worth, and is a Celtic Harpist of international delight, brings a steady, fluid resonance.
Renowned soprano vocalist and bodhran player, Christa Burch of the Syncopaths, also from Molly’s Revenge’s Winterdance tours brings clear, sweet and effortless harmony vocals and rhythm.
Celebrated Scottish, and American fiddler, and Concertina player Rebecca Richman, who’s previously toured Scotland, Ireland, and the US as guest instructor and accompanist, brings a deep and expert knowledge of conversational instrumentation.
The concerts promise to weave a compassionate spell around the audience for a cathartic and healing evening. The songs, harmony, interplay between these performers will take you through a journey acknowledging immense collective grief, loss, heartache, hope, and ultimately a joy-filled conclusion to the turmoil of the last three years.
